Musical
I HAVE decided, and have pretty much resigned to the fact that my blogs - all 52 weeks' worth will emulate a height chart...but instead of measuring growth, it'll measure accomplishments....
Take my video below for example (I say scratching my temple with my mouth twisted in a highly awkward position)...this instrument playing thing is definitely a work-in-progress.
I definitely bit off more than I can chew with my song choice.. AND I have really sore fingertips (oh...not from chewing my fingers but from pressing them into steel-strings! At least I can take things out of the microwave now and don't require a tea towel!)
Next time, I'm going to choose something simple. A four-chord-song...any "oldie but goodie" such as Knockin' on Heaven's Door, Dreaming My Dreams, Let It Be ...actually, anything by the Beetles and not by Led Zeppelin...or Santana.
The song I chose is a favourite of mine and seemed easy at the time, however, between belting it acapella while driving to work and picking up the guitar to accompany myself, a few factors have come into play. Rather substantial factors actually....
- I really can't play guitar.
- The song is normally a piano song so it's been transposed slightly awkwardly.
- And I can't really play guitar......or any instrument for that matter.
I wish I could play the recorder.
But alas, I cannot....for now... but do you know what? Come December, I'm going to be able to play Grandma's Feather Bed on the spoons! Now that's a highly economical instrument....and the most likely way I'll start an orchestra of same instruments. EVERYONE HAS SPOONS!
Anyway, the world's favourite type of cutlery (arguable) isn't relevant here...I suppose I should play you my song. I played the intro last week and no one guessed it. Actually...you still might not know what it is!
But good luck my friends, and good night.
PS: Funny song Knockin' on Heaven's Door. My older brother once sang it when he visited a nursing home with his year four class......
